Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007

Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007

This is an awesome product. It is easily backward compatible with previous versions of Office. It is much more user friendly and much easier to personalize buttons and toolbars to how one person uses word. I highly recommend it.

Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Home & Student Edition

Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Home & Student Edition

I was running Parallels and through it Office 2007 for the PC. That worked fine, but the start up time was too long, and the apps were occasionally flaky. I finally broke down and bought Office 2008. I'm happy now - it starts up quickly and opens up my PC files just file.

I just can't figure out why they didn't just implement the very well thought-out ribbon bars from Office 2007. I do like that it has the notebook view (why doesn't Microsoft take it's best ideas and use them for EVERY version of MS Office?).

QuickBooks Pro 2009

QuickBooks Pro 2009

Quickbooks 2009 still fails miserably when it comes to interoperability with past versions. Also, the multiple ways to save, share, or backup a file are a throwback to software ala 1990. A related issue is that these files are probably much larger than they need to be. Furthermore, the software is always trying to impose Web access on the user, often for marketing purposes. Moreover, I tried the online banking feature, but my bank apparently was not ready for 2009. In my opinion, this product still does not meet modern standards for software quality. I wish there was a widely-used alternative.

Microsoft Outlook 2007

Microsoft Outlook 2007

there are a TON of options, almost too many. i've had this for a couple of weeks and am still running into things i didn't know it would do! being able to CATEGORIZE your emails is nice; if you flag them they pop up when you start Outlook as reminders. there is so much to say about it i could go on an on .. suffice it to say this is a really nice upgrade from the old outlook .. this was a real treat for me. PLUS .. AMAZON HAD THE BEST PRICE AROUND .. even CHEAPER THAN WAL MART!!! Don't think twice, just go ahead an buy it .. you won't regret it. Seriously.

Norton 360 Version 2.0

Norton 360 Version 2.0

I received the Norton 360 around March. It has really messed up my computer. If I leave the firewall on, I can't use my internet. I can't schedule a defrag because Norton won't let me. It is really ridiculous!!
I would not recommend this product to anyone!.

Microsoft Office Professional 2003 [OLD VERSION]

Microsoft Office Professional 2003 [OLD VERSION]

The company sent me an illegal copy of Microsoft Office, and I returned it to them. They were prompt with their email answers to me, and the refund was handled in a timely way.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Preferred

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Preferred

P.S. I accidentally hit three stars and the review form would not let me change it to two stars.

Last year I bought Dragon Naturally Speaking 9 Preferred for my son. He had no trouble installing it, did mention that the program was "scary smart," and now says it makes his job easier and he uses it constantly. For many months I have been toying with the idea of getting one for myself as it is getting difficult for me to type because of pain in my hands; however, I have been using computers for about 20 years now so am very familiar with the ups and downs of software support - who provides it and how good it is. I always check a product's support pages before purchasing their product(s) - sometimes I DO learn from experience.

And that is the one thing that scares me about Nuance. I have been on their site several times trying to find answers to simple questions like, will it work with Open Office. No answer on their site, no easy way to contact them. I have written several emails to what I thought might be the sales office over the last eight months, no replies. They send me coupons and half-price deals and call me to offer great deals, but no answers to my questions.

So, apparently the software works maybe a majority of the time and that is good. But when something doesn't work AND you can't get any help from the people who made it, what good is it really? Only good until that first call to support.

I'll wait - maybe after the economy sinks for awhile and they find out they actually need customers, they'll decide to do something about their very bad web site and virtually nonexistent customer support.

Microsoft Office Professional 2007 FULL VERSION

Microsoft Office Professional 2007 FULL VERSION

what kind of a company rewards loyal users by putting up a roadblock to productivity? this is the worst software 'upgrade' i have ever seen, and I've been using software for the past 20 years. yes, there are additional useful features. yes, there are fixes to previous limitations. but no, they did not have to be implemented with a completely new UI. The office ribbon is like GM taking the steering wheel and putting it on the other side of the car, and calling that a better car, though indeed, the new car has a better engine. WTF? why would anyone approve this without at least having an option, add-in, or whatever work around to go back to the classic menus? unfortunately this is a business school case worthy example of how not to treat your customers.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Standard

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Standard

wow I have only had this product for a day and a half. And I am very very impressed with it. The installation of the product(dragon) only took about 10 minutes to install. The voice recognition took about another 10 to fully understand my voice patterns. Actually it started understanding my voice within the first 1 to 2 seconds. I already sent out a ton of e-mails to friends and family. Telling them about this product. All of them are super impressed that for the most part I never even have to touch the keyboard. Most of them have seen my previous e-mails and no that I'm not the greatest typer in the world and misspell words quite a bit. They are impressed of how accurate this software is. For a person like me with a reading disability. This product I would have to say is the best product on the market for people with disabilities. I have dictated this entire review and Dragon has tight every word of it with few mistakes. Occasionally I will have to hit the backspace button and most of the time it is my dictation error that I have to correct. I would recommend this product to anyone that might not have the dexterity to type for long periods of time. Or people with reading disabilities that might not be able to spell very well like myself. This product is awesome. Oh yeah I also read a review before I bought this product that said the man or woman who installed the product on their PC said it had a rocky installation on Vista. I did not run into any problems that they indicated. This product is a dream come true for me.

Quicken Deluxe 2009

Quicken Deluxe 2009

The only reason I gave this only 4 stars is because I found it a bit difficult to use right out of the box. I used Money for so many years that I found Quicken a bit confusing a first. Made many errors in the beginning. Quicken help desk is great which I would give them 5 stars.
